Overview
Centro de Apoyo Familiar (CAF) is seeking an experienced and qualified Independent Contractor to provide support to Project Manager and staff in all related programs and office activities. This role ensures the efficient distribution of materials, equipment, and resources, aligning logistics with program goals and compliance requirements. The position requires hands-on fieldwork, including transportation, loading, and on-site support.
The selected contractor will provide services on a contractual basis in accordance with a written Independent Contractor Services Agreement.
The contractor will operate independently and will be responsible for determining the appropriate methods, resources, and approaches to complete the agreed-upon scope of services and deliverables.
Scope of Services
The Independent Contractor will be responsible for:
- Providing professional services related to logistics coordination for programs, including materials, supplies, and equipment distribution.
- Plan and execute transportation routes across multiple locations.
- Operate commercial/heavy vehicles (trucks) as needed.
- Maintain inventory and ensure resource availability.
- Ensure compliance with safety and transportation regulations.
- Collaborate with internal teams (programs, operations, finance).
- Document logistics activities for grant reporting and compliance.
- Support community events, distributions, and program activities.
- Monitor planting site and tree assessment.
- Monitor vehicle condition and coordinate maintenance when needed.
- Participate in tree planting activities.
- Collaborate in planning and coordinating logistics, including identifying and securing suitable locations for tree planting events.
- Assist in recruiting and engaging faith-based partners to support program initiatives.
- Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, is required to support project activities.
- Assist in any other program or office related tasks.
Qualifications and Experience
- Valid Driver’s License for approved heavy trucks.
- Previous experience in logistics, transportation, or inventory management preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work in dynamic, field-based environments.
- Strong attention to detail and reliability.
- Basic English language skills.
- Availability for local travel as needed.
Compensation
- Compensation will be established through a written Independent Contractor Services Agreement based on the scope of services, deliverables, and mutually agreed-upon terms. position is contingent upon the availability of funds and continued financial support from the sponsoring agencies or funding sources.
Independent Contractor Relationship
This opportunity is for an Independent Contractor and does not constitute an offer of employment. The contractor will not be considered an employee of Centro de Apoyo Familiar (CAF) and will not be eligible for employee benefits, including but not limited to health insurance, retirement plans, paid leave, or other employment benefits.
The Independent Contractor will be responsible for complying with all applicable federal and Puerto Rico tax obligations, including the reporting and payment of required contributions, as applicable. The contractor is also responsible for maintaining any required insurance coverage, permits, licenses, and registrations necessary to perform the contracted services.
Nothing contained in this agreement shall be interpreted as creating an employer-employee relationship, partnership, or joint venture between the parties.
